1. 2009 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Ford has been a forerunner in the American pickup truck world for years, so you really can't go wrong with this dependable truck that offers a smooth ride as well as rough-and-tumble power (especially if you opt for the 5.4-liter V8 engine). However, the KBB experts recommend that you double-check the condition of the engine and transmission, especially as the vehicle gets more miles on it.
2. 2010 Ford F-150
With an average 8.8/10 Kelley Blue Book (KBB) consumer rating, this truck will put you close to your $10,000 budget, but it has a comfortable interior as well as the power you expect from a Ford pickup. But, like #1 on our list, be sure to ask whether the engine or transmission has been replaced, or ask if you can get it inspected prior to purchase to make sure it still has plenty of life left in it.
3. 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
You'll pay a bit less than a Ford for the Silverado, and it comes equipped with plenty of horsepower, decent gas mileage (15 city/20 highway), and a full-size GM platform that seems to perform better than some of its predecessors. With any used truck, be sure to look for a well-maintained vehicle with service records, if possible.
